Mixed bag of reviews so far!! Billington and Purves 3 stars in the Guardian and Times respectively, 4 stars from Paul Taylor in the Independent who confessed 'I absolutely loved it'.

Not that it will impact sales but disappointed these 'esteemed' critics haven't quite embraced it like the rest of us!

I found it an absolute joy and cannot wait to see it again.

Mark Shenton tweeted that he really enjoyed it, with a couple of reservations.

Apparently there was an extended interval due to set automation issues! First night eh!

"Having decided to spoof the implicit colonialism of the missionary position and the palpable fabrications of sacred texts, it then endorses the idea that humans have a built-in bias towards belief. That may well be true. But you can't be Swift and Pollyanna at the same time." I found this very funny in Billington's review.
2013 Theatre: Shrek the Musical (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane)  : The Ladykillers (UK tour at Curve)  Quartermaine's Terms (Wyndham's)  The Audience (Gielgud)  The Mousetrap (St. Martin's)  Old Times x2 (Harold Pinter)   Peter and Alice (Noel Coward).

There is some automation with the Africa set, the main structure at the back. Anyway, was just twitter ramblings.

I was wondering what the automation was too? Can only think of the platforms perhaps or maybe there was something in Spooky Mormon Hell? But it seemed a very basic set.

I think there's too much obsession from reviewers with "what is the show actually saying?".

It's fun, it's lighthearted, it's naughty, has bits of satire & spoof, but it's a musical for goodness' sake & I think some people just need to lighten up.
