There weren't protestors, but there was a guy handing out leaflets about Mormonism.
He wasn't wearing a shirt and tie, though.
So anyway, the show's great, everyone should see it, yadda yadda yadda. It's pretty excellent in every aspect IMO (the choreography in particular deserves a mention), it's very funny, and it deserves to be a nice juicy hit and win lots of awards.
For my tastes, it's maybe a little safe? I know that's odd to say about a musical with lyrics like these... but I like it when I see a show and something fascinates me, and despite the all-round goodness of Mormon (and a few brilliant moments) I didn't get that here. Maybe that's a consequence of it being a musical comedy rather than something more serious. But I can't damn it for not being something else, when it's so good at being what it is. If that makes sense?

Amazing! Just got back, there were protestors but they were Christians protesting about the evils of Mormonism and the stupidity of their beliefs. I don't think they knew much about the show. It was such a great atmosphere, Lopez, Stone, Parker and the director introduced it.

The director and choreographer is Casey Nicholaw who has directed Drowsy Chaperone and choreographed Spamalot. He's the director/choreographer of the upcoming production of Aladdin.
