I haven't posted on here for ages - I wondered about new musicals opening this year.
What has been confirmed as opening and what has been speculated but still unconfirmed?
Or any shows closing leaving a dark theatre?

I know Sweeney Todd is transferring to Adelphi, have got tickets for April so really excited about that
I know Top Hat starts at Adelphi in April, though not something I fancy
But I don't know anything else - help please board!

Top Hat is going to the Aldwych, not the Adelphi :)

Mamma Mia transfers to the Novello in September, so something new will be heading into the Prince of Wales, likely Viva Forever (or else I'm sure I've read somewhere that Jersey Boys will transfer over and VF will take the Prince Edward)

Legally Blonde closes in April so there'll be something new in the Savoy later in the year, possibly Bridget Jones.  Sunshine Boys goes in after LB, but only until the end of July.

Rumours also that the Wizard of Oz will close in the summer, with South Pacific possibly going in and then Charlie and the Chocolate Factory early 2013.

There are a few others already rumoured for 2013:  Book of Mormon and possibly a revival of Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal...

As far as theatres goes, I'm not sure what's going into the Gielgud when Ladykillers finishes in April

Apologies if I've missed something or got something slightly wrong, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will correct things if I hav

Not sure why I typed Adelphi twice, I somehow thought both shows would run at the same time lol!

That is really helpful thanks - I remember hearing bits about Viva Forever, Bridget Jones, Chocolate Factory, South Pacific and Book of Mormon now you have reminded me - just wondered when we will have any solid confirmation for any of the shows.

Would love to see Book of Mormon over here, though I know people were concerned there wouldnt be an audience for the show in the UK.

I would love to see Chorus Line as never seen it professionally and really like the show. I keep seeing a Miss Saigon revivail mentioned on here too.

Dont know if anyone saw Bonnie and Clyde on Broadway, know it closed early but I really like some of the songs

I guess it depends how much you trust various sources - Baz in the DM has said that Book of Mormon is pretty much a done deal.  I'm one of those sceptics though - I don't think it'll easily find an audience here.

Personally I'm hoping for Anything Goes to come over from Broadway, even if it is in 2013. :)

Anything Goes would be great, another one I havent seen professionally - please SUTTON FOSTER (and not Amanda Holden, Kimberley Walsh etc etc)- wasnt it revived not that long ago over here though.

Quite a few broadway shows I would be interested in i.e. Adams Family, Next to Normal but dont know how likely they are, we never know until its confirmed, always so much speculation which is exciting and then sometimes nothing comes of it :(

Doesnt look like they will be any shows for Olympics then, I remember last year speculation was whether there would be any new shows opening to pull in the tourists (which I think is when Miss Saigon first brought up)

It was revived in 2003, a national theatre production that transfered to the TRDL!

Has anyone heard anything about 9 to 5? I heard it was looking to come into London after a run in Manchester sometime in October.

Book of Mormon is going into Prince of Wales. This is where everything i've read puts it, so probably a limited run show from September to Feb. Maybe South Pacific could slot in there quite nicely, or the Susan Boyle musical that is touring could go in too, it finishes End of June so timing wise it works quite well.

It was, but I've heard good things about the current Broadway production!  And it's just a hope really, I'd much rather see that than Book of Mormon personally :)

As far as I know 9 to 5 is doing a UK tour visting most ATG venues (Birmingham, Bristol, etc) over the summer and into winter of this year, not heard about a West End run for it though.
