He's a barman and is involved with The Tenors of Rock at the moment. How is that not a fair representation? Regardless of what he may have achieved in the past they presented the truth.

From what Oli said, "commitments to Rock of Ages" might not be the *actual* reason for his leaving...

He also uses the words 'or' and 'if' which means you could read it either way

Especially as it's in his interests to be seen as someone waiting for their big break.  If he reaches the public vote stage, it'll stand him in good stead.  I'm sure they'll mention that he's had experience of theatre at some point too.

However, when I read him say it was a "fair representation" I wasn't thinking about how comprehensibly they described each contestants CVs to date, or even if the public was fooled into thinking that a particular contestant was amazingly good for someone with limited experience.  I was thinking he meant more along the lines of whether or not the cameras showed contestants looking like idiots.   Something he had worried about.

Whilst saying he was a barman was true, they conveniently omitted the fact that he was also a West End performer.  Presumably this was done to make him more paletable to the audience, who the TV bods seem to think want truly raw talent and will be put off by a contestant with professional credentials.  It's like the Daniel Boys situation all over again - Professional portrayed by the TV bods as a Cement company Administrator!  I wouldn't expect to see someone's entire CV listed in the show, but they could simply say that Jonathan (or whoever) is a professional performer with WE experience.

Oh spare me, please. So if someone like Karimloo were on there at a time when, say, he's only doing his band stuff, he'd be 'member of a small indie band'? Of if an Olivier Award winner is only teaching at that very time because performers simply aren't usually in productions all the time without anything in-between for the entirety of their career, they'd be 'a singing teacher' and that would be a fair representation of that person?

Williams is not just a West End performer either, he played the lead role in the West Ends biggest musical!

So many pedantically minded people on this forum. It's irrelevant anyway as you won't see him on the programme after tonight. It doesn't make good telly to say he is an actor and it's implied anyway. First and foremost it is a television programme. Most of you are looking at it through theatrical tinted glasses.

Aren't you a proper ray of sunshine? And that's exactly what people are saying anyway - it's about making 'good telly', which is the same as saying it's never a fair representation. I know it isn't and the past programmes certainly haven't been, and I don't expect them to be, that's all, which is why I've no interest in them to begin with. But to accuse people of looking at a show that's supposedly about theatre and is full of theatre people from a theatrical perspective (on a theatre message board!) seems quite redundant to me.
