Saw the movie yesterday. I thought Hugh Jackman was ok, until I heard his "Bring Him Home" and his voice sounded too harsh to me. Guess that's because I'm used to hearing Ramin Karimloo or Alfie Boe sing it, and the tone of their higher register is so different from Jackman's. Otherwise, I thought he was adequate--not mind blowing, but adequate. I thought Ann Hathaway was amazing!

There are free tickets available to see this tomorrow (8th Jan 6.30pm), at about 30 cinemas around the country, The site with the tickets has been up and down all day, it was back up just now and I grabbed some for Derby, If it says sold out its worth keep checking as there are returns going on all the timehttp://www.tellten.co.uk/pin/133751

I'm going to the preview for this in Leeds tonight
For anyone who does manage to grab some tickets, this is a Daily Mail promotion and you are expected to be able to produce a copy of Sunday's Mail if the staff at the cinema ask for it.
I've been to a few of their previews and sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Pot luck really I think.

Ok..... I saw it and..... I absolutely loved it . BUT and it is a big but. I have seen it twice in london and the tour once. So i am not a purist. My mate is however and he was alot more critical. Alot of the songs are cameos in themselves. Ie the last verse of drink with me is present. So the barricade boys singe one verse then it goes straight into marius " life without cosette..." Beggars at feast is cut and very badly. Matius knocks monseur thenardier out and marius and cosette storm out to find valjean and then it suddenly cuts to the tenardiers being carried out singing the last 6 lines of BATF. The way it is edited makes it clear the whole song was filmed. Also the opening 20 mins is atrociously edited as well (the montage in which JVj attempts to find work) thr acting is good. Eponine is no more than a cameo in fact the thenardiers have more screen time i think. I think sam barks is in the film for no more than 10minutes. The filming style
Isnpredictable and uninspiring. But i loved it due to the fact i waited years for this lol. Its miles better than phantom which ia some comfort i am sure
