Hi guys! :)

Sorry if this is the wrong place but I'm really stuck and figure this is the best shot. I am in the process of arranging my marriage and we have decided it would be very 'us' to get a wedding singer for an hour or so in the evening as the entertainment before the usual DJ ritual. The going rates for a regular wedding singer are "from £300" it seems but we'd ideally like someone to do some show tunes who works in the business - ideally with west end experience. Is this realistic? Is there a company or agency who offer such a service or is it possible to contact specific performers directly - I appreciate the costs will be more. As a theatre loving couple with no real contacts in the industry we're just dabbling at the moment in what availability/rates are like.

Any advice or feedback would be greatly received! Many thanks!

Try the Muiscal Theatre colleges.
They are pretty good.
Lots of students do it.

We met through musicals. It's our wedding - we can do what we like. If you have nothing to contribute please don't reply to the thread. Thanks :)

If there are particular performers you are interested in I'd have thought a quick Google would give you their agent. A straightforward email to them with all your details will probably produce a result. Bearing in mind they will need at least a pianist (and piano), if not a small band, I'd have thought £500 would be a starting point for anyone with any kind of reputation and probably going at least double that for a notable West End name. Best of luck for your wedding.
Ooh, that Bernadette Shaw - what a chatterbox!

Bear in mind that it will be tricky for someone under contract to a West End show to be available on a particular day, unless you're getting married on a Sunday (or maybe Monday). But given enough notice they can ask for an 'N/A' (not available) and it can be taken as part of their holiday entitlement. And for someone who isn't under contract for the special day at the moment they can present that as a "Pre-contractual N/A" to their next employer.
