It can do no harm to turn up and see what they have. Whilst you not might be able to book for the weekend shows online via seetickets, you can ring 0871 230 1547 and see what the phone side of SeeTickets have available. Good luck! This show isn't going to get any easier to see once it wins all the Olivier Awards!
Oh that scuppers my plans! Has anyone got any experience of queueing for returns for the show at a weekend? Or is there any instances where house seats are released at the last minute? Desperate to go along in two weeks on a Sat or Sun and will pay full price...!
I'd say queuing for returns is always worth a try if you are willing to stand for a few hours. I've never failed yet in a returns queue and that includes the final performance of Jerusalem and shows at the tiny Donmar. If yo are willing to pay top price I think yo should have a good chance.

Does anyone know what date the cast change is? I know Steve Furst and Hayley Flaherty are joining as Mr Wormwood and Miss Honey, but when do they join?
Also, has anyone else heard the rumour that they are now looking at women as a possible replacment for Bertie Carvel, when he leaves in July? I think a lot of the humour would be taken away, by doing that.

Tim told me they'd never have a woman play Trunchbull; it wasn't written was a part for a woman and Tim has always seen it as a bloke.

Yep, Bertie leaves 1st July and in the Matilda movie Trunchbull is played by a woman (Pam Ferris).
Anyone heard anything on the grapevine about who's replacing Bertie as Trunchbull?

And this is the information given on the Broadway casting calls:
Quote
Miss Trunchbull:
Seeking a MALE actor to play this female character, 30s–40s. Actor MUST be 6 foot plus. Trunchbull is headmistress of Crunchem Hall Primary School. Miss Honey's aunt. Once a famous athlete, Trunchbull is described as a "Gigantic Holy Terror," a "fierce tyrannical monster" who "marches like a storm trooper with long arms swinging" with an "aura of menace". High baritone with strong top F#. Needs EXTREMELY good enunciation and vocal dexterity. Should be quite a physical character actor – must be physically fit and agile – able to convincingly play a "woman". This is NOT a drag role.

So no - absolutely no chance of the role being cast to a woman. Thankfully.
