[Bad Idea Bear]

I really enjoyed this show. Jessica Martin is fantastic , a really talented singer & actress. She assumes the persona of Veronique Raymond, a fading diva with a showbiz mother, who always thought herself a bigger star than her actual billing. She tells the story of her career, with examples of performances and uses her amazing impressionist skills to re-create other performers (mostly real) & people that she met throughout her life.

It is very well done & very funny, though it helps to have a little knowledge of the performers she apes - I got most, but not all, of the references. It also seems to have a gentle dig at the recent shows by Debbie Reynolds & Shirley Jones etc; if you saw those, this is all the funnier.

There are songs you will recognise and others written as pastiche, all superbly performed. (She really can sing, and does so a lot!)

Lovely venue too, brand new and "intimate". The audience last night can only be described as sparse, but seemed to have a good time.
