I was just looking at their website as I'm thinking of booking for something there. The booking process took me through to lastminute.com who seem to be handling the sales. It said seat numbers could not be allocated until some time after booking. But the only other time I went to the KH, a few years back, it was unallocated seating anyway. Does anyone know if it's gone over to reserved seating now, or is that just a standard lastminute flag?

If it's reserved and you get your seat allocated later, I hate that. It would actually put me off booking.

That is a standard last minute flag.  It's on every time I book, but I don't think I have ever booked anywhere with them that has unallocated seating.  I'd be suprised if a place that like has switched over.  

FWIW, Last minute do allocate the best seats from their allocation on a first come first served basis.

The Kings Head has on occasion set aside the front row or two as premium, reserved seating.  I don't know if they're still doing it, but when they ran a series of gay plays recently (Naked Boys Singing, F***ing Men, Studies for a Portrait), they did have the front 2 rows as reserved, allocated, for those I assume who wanted an extra-close view of the performance.  The seats weren't allocated at time of sale, it only guaranteed in the "premium" area, and they had marked out areas on the benches for particular groups or individuals.

I remember when us mods went there about two years ago, we debated getting reserved seats for an extra £5 a seat in order to ensure that we got seats together, which we eventually decided not to go for. When we got there we could see no obvious sign of any seats being offlimits to those of us with unreserved seating, so at least back then it seemed to be a waste of money.
