WAIT UNTIL DARK, a mystery thriller play by FREDERICK KNOTT (DIAL M FOR MURDER): a new production for the EDINBURGH FRINGE 2010
Susy, recently blinded, becomes the target of three conmen searching for a doll filled with heroin, which they believe has fallen into her husband’s possession. However, Susy, not to be underestimated, becomes suspicious of their story and in a terrifying climax levels the playing field by smashing all the bulbs in her lights – plunging her apartment into total darkness.
Engaging and escapist, but also disconcerting and thought provoking, it is a play for anyone who appreciates a gripping story of humanity, fear and vulnerability.
The original Tony Award nominated Broadway production ran for 347 performances. Honor Blackman starred in the first West End production of the play and Quentin Tarantino led Broadway revival. The immortal Audrey Hepburn received an Oscar nomination for her performance in the 1967 film adaption, which Stephen King called “the scariest film of all time” - praising Alan Arkin’s performance as “the greatest evocation of screen villainy ever”.
Playing from the 7th-28th August at 8:40pm, running time 1 hour and twenty minutes.
Suitable for all ages except the very young.
