Are final shows any different to normal shows? Im not really sure what to expect on 2nd september show!

More emotion, probably speeches. Possibly a producer. Not that big a cast though, or many people who have been there throughout. Not sure if you can do much of a muck up matinee with WoZ but they probably wouldn't wnat to do thatt on the last show even if it is in the afternoon - so I imagine the jokes, rewritten script and stunts if any will be in the Saturday matinee??

Finally, saw this last night, and I was fairly impressed. Got tickets for £20 via last minute, which got us seats quite far back in the upper dress, but they then did an upgrade for an extra £10, which got us dead centre, row A in the royal circle. Not too shabby.

The orchestra sounds great, especially for one that was downsized a fair bit. Didn't think that much of most the cast, bar tin man, lion and scarecrow who i thought were pretty good.

I can understand why the show is closing, it wasn't massively busy last night and looks like it could be quite pricey to run. But it was a pretty good night for the price. Be interest to see what happens if it tours, because there are plenty of bits of the show that would be very difficult to tour.

The Yellow Brick Road was only thing I thought would be tricky to tour. Of course the revolve would be gone, and most of the other set pieces could come on on tracks or be flown in. I imagine if it does tour, The Witch's Tower will be redesigned, possibly similar to Fiona's Tower in Shrek

Or maybe the tour could be a completely new set design that's scaled down to tour (like the way Oliver! is touring) but is still similar to Rob Jones' set (minus the complicated parts). If I was designing an Oz tour Perhaps the yellow brick road could be a light up bridge with Scarecrow's cornfield and Tinman's cottage sliding in front of it from the wings. And if I was designing the castle of have one square of platform for the witch to stand on that moves backwards and revolves to reveal her throne (and a trapdoor to "melt") which sits against a 2d castle backdrop with candles to suit the Bacchanalia. Those are my ideas ;D

Oliver! is not touring with a new set...You contradicted yourself by saying that it is similar to the West End one. Which it is. With a few exceptions, virtually identical.

And also, don't forget, revolves are possible on tour. Whenever people see a show in the West End that has been rumoured/announced to tour, they run for the hills...

Wizard of oz doesnt have the strongest history as being a great seller on tour so I quess if it tours would depend if they could get names

Easy enough, there are enough people of the right age to take on stints as the Wizard and enough of the girls from Over The Rainbow who would be willing to play Dorothy. They could also probably find a couple of willing names to perform in the trio.

Not really the West End and tour sets for Oliver! are different designers which are similar but still different.

And yes revolves are possible on tour but they are difficult to tour.

It's no more than an adaptation of Anthony Ward's set for touring.
