I don't want to p*ss on the barbecue but looking at the number of views and the number of replies it does seem like not many people are registering.

It's only been up and running a couple of hours! Lots of people probably won't even realise it's back yet..

And we really need all our other threads back so we can get going properly.

Do you think so? Part of me would rather just have a fresh start and begin again on here. There was so much dross on the old boards that it'd be quite nice to have a clear out!

Yeah I'm with you I think, Haz. I mean, I don't mind the old stuff being reloaded but it wouldn't bother me too much if it wasn't.
Anyway, I'm very pleased to see the board reinstated with this software - I'm familiar with it from other message boards and I think it works well and is very clear - and happy that we now register, it's definitely much better than the old system.

I would make one suggestion: If there's any way to get rid of the "Top 20 Posters" lists that would be great. The only function these lists serve is to encourage people to post pointless and contentless messages in order to keep their post count as high as possible. On other boards I've seen people start threads for no other purpose than to get themselves to a particular number of posts. There's no merit in posting more times than anyone else, and there's no pleasure in wading through all the junk added by people who think a high post count makes them "special".
I also have a question. At the bottom of the page it says something like 18 User(s) are browsing this forum (9 Guests and 0 Anonymous Users). What's the difference between a guest and an anonymous user? I'm guessing that a guest might be an unregistered lurker and an anonymous user might be an unregistered poster; is that right? And does the count of users include the unregistered ones? (That is, would that number above be 18 users of which 9 are unregistered, or 18 users plus 9 unregistered? I assume the former.) Not that it makes much difference, but it'd be nice to know.

An anonymous user is one who has registered but selected the option to not be listed among active users. A guest is an unregistered viewer.
I agree though, I don't quite see how the figures add up.

Guests are unregistered users.
Anonymous users are registered, but have chosen not to display their name in the 'now online' list.
And it's 18 registered users PLUS 9 guests, as far as I know.
I'm a dumbass..
