Just wanted to add that I worked with Ian Richardson a few years ago and he is another huge loss to the industry. He was a witty, devoted and immensely talented man and one i thoroughly enjoyed working with. He may be best remembered for his tv work but he was an incredible prescence on stage too. A very sad loss.

He was one of the truly great figures from a golden age of English theatre. There were so many memorable performances. Perhaps one of the best was his Vindice in Tourneur's The Revenger's Tragedy at the RSC. On the DVDs of Kenneth Clark's Civilisation he appears briefly in a location staging of part of the Graveyard Scene from Hamlet - His 'Alas poor Yorick' in that brief extract is quite definitive and gives an indication of what a fine actor he was.
