With the press nights in a week, one would have thought that she'd be back in stage now. Does anybody know if she is or whether she will even make the new press night? I know that this has been mentioned in other topics, but only in passing. I am going to see the Seagull on Wednesday and would like to have a clue as to who to expect: Melanie or Frances?

It was Frances Barber last Wednesday (May 16th) ... and she was very good.

And had poor reviews from our beloved critics, one of whom called her 'adequate'. Wrong, wrong, wrong; she's good in anyone's book and very good in most.
