Happy New Year!
There seem to be only a few musicals that have been filmed and issued on DVD - Jekyll and Hyde, Never Forget being two. Can any of you point me in the direction of others please?
I know there was a big appeal of LOTR, but not happened as far as I know.
Hope you can help

Joseph has been. It's basically the Palladium version, but with a few extra bits in to make it a film.

A few others: the original Broadway Sunday in the Park with George with Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters, the US tour of Sweeney Todd with George Hearn and Angela Lansbury, the NT Oklahoma! with Hugh Jackman and Maureen Lipman, the London revival of Kiss Me, Kate with Brent Barrett and Rachel York, Barnum with Michael Crawford and the original London production of Our House are all available on DVD. I haven't seen all of these so can't comment on the quality of the recording.

I was in the audience the day that 'Kiss Me, Kate' was recorded in the West End (think it was at the Victoria Palace). It was very late in the run - possibly the last week - and a lot of audience members were furious that the show was completely ruined by cameras on dolly cranes swinging in front of the stage. When I eventually saw the production on TV those crane shots created the most appallingly woozy swooping camera shots that were neither like proper film, or a theatre experience. There was no prior warning, so I hope other managements treat their paying audience with more respect. It is possible to film a show and allow the cameras to be unobtrusive.
Rant over! Back to your subject:
Boy George's TABOO musical is also available on DVD (in its original London version, before it was ruined in New York by all accounts).
Also Lloyd Webber/Ayckbourn's BY JEEVES. (Really Useful have it in full, split into parts on their YouTube channel).

Yes, it was done during the last week. I went to the midweek matinee that closing week & they were filming that performance (I guess they would have filmed a minimum of 2 performances so you may have been at a different one). I remember there being cameras moving about either side of the stage but don't remember finding them too obtrusive from where I was sat in the Upper Circle. I mostly remember being very pleased that a performance that I so much enjoyed was being preserved so I'd be be to see it again, in fact the 1st DVD I ever bought was that one when it was released (I then had to buy a DVD player to watch it!).

Apparently Shrek The Musical is going to be released on DVD by Dreamworks this year. It's already been filmed and it is all of the original cast! I think because it's closing tommow they want to make more money from it.
