the section you need to upload it to for it to show is the 'avatar' section, not the picture one. the picture one is for your profile, which is different

Are you trying to upload from your computer or from a URL? If it's a URL you may need to go into something like photobucket (try flock as your browser) and shorten the link as the av box on here won't take very long links (I had that problem). If you're still stuck pm me and I'll try to explain.
