Yes it was, around 2001/2001 I think, and I saw that. I love the play and will see pretty much any production of it. I always find myself thinking back to the 1992 Almeida one, though (I was only 10 when it premiered in the 70s with Gielgud & Richardson so never saw it then).

Well you could start at the Stephen Joseph this Summer when "Relatively Speaking" (1965) will be revived, directed for only the 2nd time, by the author.

I'm reading it at the moment for a course, and I can't understand why the characters do what they do through out most of it. I wonder if it makes more sense staged.

I have seen the play - it was quite entertaining. I can't see the point of reading plays at all (at least from that period) - they all seem very thin on the page and are only animated by a good production (I include most of Shakespeare in that too). Ben Jonson plays are incomprehensible on the page, but (occasionally) very clear in production.

We're doing Christopher Fry's The Lady's Not for Burning right now - and also have plays by T.W. Robertson and Hubert Henry Davies coming up for those who like Victorian/Edwardian plays!
