Revenge Tour arrives in Newcastle

WWE’s WrestleMania® Revenge Tours of Europe finished as the most successful in WWE history, selling out 15 of 20 events.
More than 175,000 fans were in attendance at events in the United Kingdom, Spain, Austria, France, Switzerland, and Portugal to see their favourite Superstars from the RAW®, SmackDown® and ECW® brands. For fans that missed the excitement and for those who want more

Having achieved record-breaking audience attendance in London during its autumn tour 2007, Rambert Dance Company embarks on the second leg of its World View Tour, spring 2008. The Company will perform its new work, Scribblings, by American choreographer Doug Varone, L’eveil by Melanie Teall, Swansong by Christopher Bruce and Infinity by Garry Stewart. With Artistic Director Mark Baldwin firmly at the helm, the world-class Rambert Dance Company returns to the Theatre Royal Newcastle from Tuesday 1 April – Saturday 5 April 2008.
Described as a ‘craftsman’ of irresistible intensity, Doug Varone, Artistic Director of Doug Varone and Dancers, uses his extraordinary musical instincts to present Scribblings, his first commission for Rambert. Inspired by composer John Adams’ flamboyant Chamber Symphony, Varone draws on the comic exaggeration and energy in the music to create a daring and complex work set in an off-kilter world with touches of urgency and humour. Wedding Singer to get a good reception

Based on the 1998 blockbuster movie starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, The Wedding Singer tells the story of Wannabe rock star Robbie Hart, everyone’s favourite wedding singer.

The Wedding Singer features television star Jonathan Wilkes, whose theatre credits include the lead roles in The Rocky Horror Show, Tommy and Grease, and Natalie Casey, who has just wowed the West End in Fame and is well known from BBC2’s smash hit comedy Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. Scottish Ballet return to Newcastle

Scottish Ballet is returning to Theatre Royal Newcastle with its brand new production, The Sleeping Beauty, from Wednesday 20 – Saturday 23 February 2008.
The company was recently awarded a top award in Britain’s dance Oscars. Scottish Ballet was crowned Critics’ Circle National Dance Award Company Prize for Outstanding Repertoire (Classical) fending off competition from both The Royal Ballet and Bolshoi Ballet companies.
Conceived by Artistic Director Ashley Page and designer Antony McDonald, the creative team behind Scottish Ballet’s hugely successful productions of The Nutcracker (2003) and Cinderella (2005), The Sleeping Beauty is the third of a trilogy of ballets with a fairytale theme, re-imagined with fresh relevance for a contemporary audience, and is presented with the surprising twists, devilish wit and stunning visuals synonymous with their creative partnership. SLEUTH by Anthony Shaffer is viewed as one of the greatest ever stage thrillers, which ran for a total of 12 years in London and New York, winning the Tony Award for Best Play and inspiring the hugely successful film starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine, which has recently been remade starring again Michael Caine. But SLEUTH makes its much anticipated return to the stage this year with the tour stooping at Darlington Civic Theatre from Monday 18 to Saturday 23 February.
