Cinderella Rocks!
April 5, 2009
DANCING ON ICE STAR Roxanne Pallett is swapping her ice skates for a pair of glass slippers following the announcement she will star as Cinderella in the Newcastle Theatre Royal’s record breaking pantomime.
The 26 year old Carlise-born actress, famous for her former role as Jo Sugden in Emmerdale and her stunning performance on ITV1’s Dancing on Ice, will join the stars of the Theatre Royal pantomime Clive Webb and Danny Adams in the most magical pantomime of them all.
Roxanne Pallett said: “It’s every little girls dream and I can’t wait to step into Cinderella’s slippers.”
Michael Harrison, Managing Director of Qdos Pantomimes and Director of Cinderella, who allowed us to folow his progress throughout last year as he wrote and cast Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates said: “We are thrilled that Roxanne is joining Newcastle favourites, Clive Webb and Danny Adams, for what will be another unmissable Theatre Royal pantomime.
“The Dancing on Ice star and former Emmerdale actress will be a superb Cinderella, opposite Danny Adams’ mad-cap Buttons, in a production that marks five years since Clive and Danny first took Newcastle pantomime audiences by storm. As usual, expect a few surprises…!”
The hugely acclaimed Theatre Royal pantomime also welcomes back the outrageous and hilarious Chris Hayward as Baroness Rita. With more than 37,000 seats already sold, the Theatre Royal pantomime is proving, once again, to be one of the most popular pantos in the country.
Philip Bernays, Chief Executive of the Theatre Royal said: “Roxanne is a very popular performer and we are delighted that she is part of the Theatre Royal pantomime team alongside Clive Webb, Danny Adams and Chris Hayward.
“We continue to receive rave reviews for the panto and I’m sure this year will be no different. It’s the best family entertainment and with many performances almost sold out I would urge people to book their tickets now.”
Cinderella appears at the Theatre Royal from Tuesday 1 December 2009 -Saturday 16 January 2010. Tickets are priced at £7.50 - £26.00 and can be purchased from the Theatre Royal Box Office on 08448 11 21 21 or online at www.theatreroyal.co.uk. You shall go to the ball!
