Caveman arrives on Tyneside
March 29, 2009
Mark Little (best known as Joe Mangel in Neighbours) has returned to his critically acclaimed role in ‘Best Entertainment’ Olivier Award winning production ‘Defending the Caveman’. Directed by Cathy Farr, its recent London run at the Leicester Square Theatre extended its run for 6 weeks due to popular demand and will be at the Journal Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle where it will play May 7th to 9th Box Office 0844 493 9999
Created and performed by Rob Becker in San Francisco in 1991, the show, which was awarded the prestigious honour when Mark took on the role at the Apollo Theatre in 2000, is the longest running solo play in Broadway history. Having been translated into 16 different languages, ‘Caveman’ has become a worldwide hit, performing to over 5 million people globally in Germany, Slovenia, Belgium, France, Russia, Australia and South Africa to name but a few! Next year it will be seen in Argentina and Brazil.
With hysterical observations into contemporary feminism, masculine sensitivity and the erogenous zones, ‘Defending the Caveman’ has both sexes roaring with laughter and recognition as they identify themselves in the tales being told. In short, it mines the common themes in relationships that go straight through the funny bone and into the heart.
