Free theatre tickets for under 26 year olds
February 24, 2009
LIVE THEATRE, NORTHERN STAGE and THEATRE ROYAL NEWCASTLE have officially unveiled details of the Free Theatre Initiative that will provide free theatre tickets to young people at all three venues.
A strictly limited number of free theatre tickets will be available to under 26 year-olds across all three theatres every week, details of which will be posted online at www.newcastletheatres.org.uk
In addition to the under 26 year-old free tickets, all three theatres will be targeting specific groups who, for a variety of social and economic reasons, rarely, if ever, visit the theatre. An additional allocation of free tickets will be donated to these groups.
The Arts Council England scheme (in association with Metro) which will be promoted under the name, A Night Less Ordinary (www.anightlessordinary.org.uk), will see up to 4,000 free theatre tickets made available over the next two years across all three Newcastle theatres to under 26 year olds and specially targeted groups, in order to reach new audiences and develop a new generation of theatregoers.
For the week of Mon 23 – Sat 28 February, Live Theatre will be offering a strictly limited number of free tickets to You Couldn’t Make It Up, directed by Max Roberts.
Details of Free Tickets for the following month will be published online at www.newcastletheatres.org.uk on the last Friday of the preceding month. The number of tickets available at each venue will vary.
