There seems to be an influx of successful musicals covering the music from the decades starting with Buddy (50s), Mamma Mia (70s) We Will Rock You (80s) and Never Forget ( 90s). So Shout! tries to fill in the gap of the 60s, but falls short.
We have a cast who try their best but the book is not strong enough to hold the show together so we are left with a series of songs from the 60s being strung together for no apparent good reason. Read more
Webb and Adams return in 09

The Theatre Royal Newcastle has announced that father and son comedy act Clive Webb and Danny Adams will be returning once again in next years pantomime, Cinderella. The duo have built a North East fan base over the past few years with each pantomime breaking records and making the Theatre Royal pantos sell faster than any other pantomime in the UK.
Joining them once again will be Chris Hayward this time as Baroness Rita.
Webb, Adam and Hayward are just about to start rehearsals for this years Theatre Royal pantomime Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates which opens in early December.
Peter Pan flies in next winter

Even though we are still a few weeks away from the pantomime season, Sunderland Empire has announced that NEXT year, 2009/10, Peter Pan will be their pantomime. No casting has been announced but booking opens in the next few weeks.
New Theatre Royal Season Announced

Theatre and film stars Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart join forces to deliver what will be one of the theatrical events of 2009, as they take to the stage in a new production of Waiting for Godot appearing at the Theatre Royal from Mon 20 to Sat 25 Apr, before transferring to London.
Sean Mathias’ production of Samuel Beckett’s legendary play is just one of the new shows making an appearance at the Theatre Royal in 2009.
Other highlights include a brand new musical based on the life of the one of the world’s greatest entertainers, Al Jolson, in, Jolson & Co – The Musical (Tues 14 – Sat 18 Apr), Britain’s premiere dance company, Rambert Dance Company (Wed 25 – Fri 27 Mar) and direct from the National Theatre is David Hare’s new play, Gethsemane (Tue 10 – Sat 14 Mar) starring Olivier award winning actress Tamsin Greig.
