Lifting a TV from the screen and placing it on stage without the orginal actors is tricky at the best of times but here it works a treat.
Lazy Town Live is the story of Lazy Town and its problem of only being able to have one Superhero. Lazy Town’s current favourite superhero is Sportacus, but if the nasty Robbie Rotten gets his way, he will be replaced with Roboticus. This upsets the people of Lazy Town as Roboticus does everything Sportacus can, only better.
But as he is a nice hero, Sportacus leaves the town to hone his Superhero skills, much to the dismay of his friends, including Mayor Meanswell and his niece Stephanie. He later returns and of course Robbie Rotten is foiled and Sportacus is installed as Lazy Town’s Superhero once more.
The pace of the performance is good, with the show itself lasting just over and hour and a half, making it the ideal length for children to sit through with ease.
The songs are catchy, upbeat and make everyone want to join in. It has elements of a pantomime but remains true to the TV version while maintaining the entertainment value from start to finish.
There is enough here to keep Mums and Dads entertained as well as the children and is recommended for that summer holiday treat.
