This classic Chekhov play has a new translation by Stephen Mulrine and is presented by the English Touring Theatre with direction by Sir Peter Hall.

The play is set on a country estate in a small Russian village in the late nineteenth century, the arrival of an aging professor and his young wife throw the residents lives into disarray.

Sir Peter Hall directs Nicholas Le Prevost, Ronald Pickup and Neil Pearson in Chekhov’s classic tale of desperate longing, unrequited love and bitter frustration.

Comic, touching and rich in language and emotion, Uncle Vanya is a passionate exploration of love, desire and loss.

Sir Peter Hall is one of Britain’s most distinguished director of plays, films and operas. He founded the Royal Shakespeare Company and was subsequently Director of the Royal Theatre. His many arts awards and nominations include two Tony Awards and an Olivier Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Neil Pearson is well known for his television roles in Drop the Dead Donkey, Between the Lines and the comedy series, The Booze Cruise. His stage work includes the Olivier Award-winning Closer, Cloaca at the Old Vic, Old Times and Taking Sides

Nicholas le Prevost’s many TV appearances include The Camomile Lawn (directed by Peter Hall), Life Begins and Absolute Power. Most recently he starred in the Peter Hall Company production of How the Other Half Loves.

The star cast also includes Ronald Pickup, remembered for such landmark films as Zulu Dawn, The Thirty Nine Steps, Ivanhoe and The Fourth Protocol.
