A Beauty Of A Show
November 14, 2007
The Newcastle Pantomime Company return to The Journal Tyne Theatre this Christmas with probably the most popular fairy tale ever written - Sleeping Beauty.
The comical crew are back with a vengeance! Brendan Healy (Jester Mo), Maxie and Mitch (Princesses bodyguards) promise a traditional fun-packed panto suitable for all the family. This top trio have worked their magic at the Tyne Theatre for over 10 years, bringing audiences a fabulous collection of ugly sisters, barmy barons, wacky wizards, stupid sidekicks and, of course, hissable villains and glamorous princesses.
The story of the infant Princess cursed by the wicked fairy Grimelda and doomed to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die on her sixteenth birthday catches the imagination and the heart. The ensuing battle of her friends and family to change her fate takes the audience on a rollercoaster ride full of enchanting fairies, leprechauns, magic and mayhem, as the much loved panto team add their particular touch to the tale.
Audiences are sure to be transfixed as the theatre is transformed before their eyes into an overgrown and neglected castle and the Princess (played by Catherine MacCabe) meets her destiny, falling asleep for 100 years.
Friday 7th December – Saturday 5th January Tickets from £6.50 - £16.00
