Darleks return, oh yes they do!

TR PantoThis years Panto Aladdin at the Theatre Royal features the Darleks alongside the more familiar characters in the story and bogglevision!

But previously in 1989 (between June 6th to 10th ) the Darleks visted the Theatre Royal in Dr Who The Ultimate Adventure, where the Doctor was played by Colin Baker. 

The panto is the fatest selling the Theatre Royal has ever had, with the cast being headlined by  Clive Webb and Danny Adams, the father and son team who are returning for their 3rd panto. Craig Conway again plays the villian of the piece and this year the leading lady is Faye Tozer, formerly from the hit group STEPS.

Wilde return of Penelope

penelopekeith_coming.jpgPenelope Keith (TVs The Good Life) is returning to the Theatre Royal in The Importance of Being Ernest , by Oscar Wilde, on October 29th for one week on a pre West End tour.

But she played the same role, Lady Bracknell, when she appeared at the Theatre Royal  in March 1991. On that tour her co-stars were the real life husband wife vetrans actors Micheal Denison and Dulcie Gray. Both of these performers were major names in British Theatre and TV with Dulcie having played in over 40 West End Plays, 26 of them opposite her husband.

CarlRosaTHE CARL ROSA COMPANY returns to the Theatre Royal Newcastle with three Gilbert and Sullivan masterpieces, Iolanthe, The Yeomen of the Guard andPatience from Tuesday 6 - Saturday 10 November. 

Iolanthe is an enduring fantasy on the class and political system. Directed by the company’s Artistic Director Peter Mulloy, it  tells the tale of a ward of court who may not marry her shepherd boyfriend. His fairy queen mother and aunts storm Westminster to make him a  Member of Parliament so he can win the girl with fantastic consequences.

50 not out!

Cliff RichardSir Cliff Richard is set to return to Tyneside as part of this 50th years in music celebration tour, in November 2008.

Fans have already camped out to ensure they got the best seats at the Metro Radio Arena for his next trip to Tyneside on November 28th next year, with tickets priced at £50 and £45 now on sale.

The Time Machine tour celebrates his 50 years in the music  industry and will feature all of Cliff’s favourite hits from the past five decades. Amazingly, if you add up the number of weeks Cliff has had a hit song in the charts, it totals a staggering 20 years. Cliffs next single When I Need You precedes his new album LOVE and will hopefully join the other hits of his careers so far which include Living Doll, Devil Woman, The Young Ones, Carrie and Some People  to name but  a few.

Trip the light fantastic in Newcastle

Len GoodmanSTRICTLY COME DANCING LIVE will swirl into the Metro Radio Arena and trip the light fantastic for two days on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd January 2008

Based on Strictly Come Dancing which has run on BBC One since 2004 with the fourth series finishing in December 2006

The show will see eight well-known faces from the worlds of entertainment and sport turn in to celebrity dance contestants, competing for the votes of the thousands in the arena audiences. The female artists taking part in this dance spectacular are Zoe Ball, Letitia Dean, Denise Lewis and Louisa Lytton. The male stars will be announced soon as well as the special guest presenter.
