The Incredibles and the Magic Kindgom Adventure
October 10, 2007
On tour inc Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle until Sunday Oct 14th
Disney on Ice is now an annual event at the Newcastle Arena and I honestly wondered how they could top last years fantastic show based on the Disney Princesses. But this is Disney and they have once again excelled themselves, by giving us a high quality show for all the family to enjoy.
I must admit that I am not too familiar with The Incredibles, and thought this might spoil the enjoyment of the show. But I need not have worried as Disney have ensured you do not need to know anything other than the family have super powers that allows them to change from the Parr Family to The Incredibles, thereby ensuring good wins over evil.
But Disney are not giving us just The Incredibles on Ice, they have set the story around the family taking a holiday, and we meet them as they load their car as the prepare for the journey to of all places Disneyland!
This allows us to watch the family as they experience the most famous Disney theme park rides including It’s a Small World, Jungle Cruise, the Teacups, The Haunted Mansion and Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Presenting the show in this way is marketing at its best, as those of us who have been to the Disney theme parks were remembering the rides in all their glory and immediately wanted to go back. While those people who had not been, could not help but over hear the other audience members talking about the great time they had had at Disney and their experience of the rides. So this will have set them thinking about a trip to a theme park in the future.
Accompanying The Incredibles on the ice we have Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Snow White and Cinderella, as well as the much needed “baddie”(Syndrome) to spoil events . Add to this special effects (including fireworks) and we have all the hallmarks of classic Disney entertainment including, first class performers , great production values, excellent costumes, familiar music and most of all family entertainment.
Next year we have Nemo on ice and my daughters are already counting the weeks, until then we will just have to keep swimming!
