Australian Faulty Towers dines at Lowry, Jan

Interactive Theatre Australia returns to the UK in January for a two-month nationwide tour of its Fawlty Towers tribute show – a direct result of its massive success at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Faulty Towers The Dining Experience is described as a warm, funny, and affectionate tribute to Fawlty Towers. It’s set in the restaurant of the Fawlty Towers hotel and features the characters of Sybil, Basil and Manuel in a ‘13th episode’ of the TV show. The audience are the diners, served by the ‘Faulty Towers…’ cast; the result is orchestrated mayhem.

The 2009 tour takes in Manchester (The Lowry), Crook (Cumbria), Lincoln, Telford, Chichester, Thurlaston and Swindon, as well as a return to the scene of its Edinburgh triumph.

Interactive Theatre Australia artistic director and co-founder Alison Pollard-Mansergh – aka Sybil – led the show’s international debut in Edinburgh. It drew audiences of all ages, attracted critical and public acclaim, and won five-star reviews in national press and on radio and TV, including two appearances on The Culture Show.

The performance is fully interactive and recreates the spirit of the TV show, although it does not use scripts written by John Cleese and Connie Booth and has no connection to the BBC.

Faulty Towers Dining Experience runs from 12th until 21st January, 2009 at the Lowry.

The Faoulty Towers show is very funny. I used to watch in ABC channels and I did not want to miss in those days. It is nice it is coming up with some new twist.
