Cast: Corrie’s Hawley in Rock ‘n’ Roll

Graeme Hawley, who plays John Stape, the notorious love rat and kidnapper of Rosie Webster in Coronation Street, is returning to the Library Theatre in February 2009 to play the lead role of Jan in the regional premiere of Tom Stoppard’s award-winning Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Rock ‘n’ Roll, a rich and intoxicating drama set over a 22-year period which pays homage to the rebellious power of rock and roll, and the part it played in freeing Czechoslovakia from Soviet control, runs between Friday 13 February - Saturday 14 March 2009.

“I am delighted to be coming back to the Library Theatre,” says Graeme, who was last on stage there in January 2007 as Guildenstern in Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. “It’s been a really big storyline for me in Coronation Street and I’ve not half noticed the change in my profile when I’ve been out and about in Manchester over the last few months, but it’s fantastic to have the opportunity to get back on stage.

“My last show at the Library was Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, and Rock ‘n’ Roll is an equally brilliant piece. I feel very privileged to be involved with a regional premiere of a Tom Stoppard play, and it couldn’t be in safer hands than those of Chris Honer. I can’t wait to get started.”

Tickets for Rock ‘n’ Roll are on sale at the Library Theatre box office on 0161 236 7110 or via the theatre’s website at www.librarytheatre.com
