Opening: Bourne’s Scissorhands

After a successful world tour, Matthew Bourne’s hugely popular production of Edward Scissorhands returns to the Lowry this week.
Following in the footsteps of Bourne’s Swan Lake, the production recently toured to Australia (where New Adventures became the first British dance company to perform at The Sydney Opera House), Paris, Athens and additionally Antwerp.
Edward Scissorhands is the touching and witty gothic fairytale of a boy created by an eccentric inventor who dies leaving him alone and unfinished.
Bourne’s production won critical and public acclaim when it first opened three years ago. Whilst on its American tour it won the Drama Desk Award for “Unique Theatrical Experience” In the UK it also won “Best New Dance Production” at The Manchester Evening News Awards and was nominated for a South Bank Show Award.
Edward Scissorhands plays at the Lowry from Tues 18- Sat 22 Nov.
Also opening this week is Karen Bruce’s high octane production of Footloose which plays at the Opera House tonight until Saturday, 22nd November.
Meanwhile the Royal Exchange stage a revival of Shelagh Delaney’s Salford set classic, A Taste Of Honey starring Sally Lindsay as Helen, which runs until Saturday, 6th December.
