Following hot on the on the heels of Strictly Come Dancing Live, this ice show spectacular has much so more to offer an audience. Firstly, the ice skating on display here from the celebrities has real pace and is absolutely breathtaking to watch. Secondly, the ace card on this tour are the dynamic duo of Torvill And Dean. Seeing these two Olympic stars having so much fun on the ice, without putting one skate wrong, is worth the admission price, alone.
The format is similar to that of the ITV1 hit TV show, in that the celebs skate for the judges and then the audience vote for their winner. The twist here is that the top two are then chosen by the judges to perform the “Bolero” at the end of the show. Amongst them are pop star Gareth Gates, ex England player, David Seaman, actresses Bonnie Langford, Linda Lusardi and Claire Buckfield.
The hot favourites though, are two recent finalists; Hollyoaks star Chris Fountain and soon to be Roxie Hart in Chicago, Suzanne Shaw. These two wow the crowd and the judges with their superb moves. For my money, Shaw is the better skater and you can see why she won the last Series. But, equally Fountain has charm and a fearless approach to the ice and the fans love him.
The one thing that hits you as you sit open-mouted watching this brilliant show, is just how excellent these celebs have become. Lusardi has real grace and seems to really enjoy herself, rugby player Kyran Bracken displays some real fancy footwork and Langford is simply dynamite on legs!
Former Corrie star Zaraah Adams looks uncomfortable and completely overwhelmed on the tour. But this could be because she is performing to a home crowd, having starred in the hit soap for a while.
As for the judges, Jason Gardiner revels in the role of the bad guy and he is ably backed by goodies Nicky Slater, Robin Cousins and Karen Barber. Each city gets a local guest judge and we had a Century FM DJ, and their role is to be incredibly nice and basically back the public.
With pyrotechnics, dancing in the air as well as the ice (guaranteed to leave you open-mouthed), great group numbers, a stunning stint by the professionals and some jaw dropping moments, this show is a deserved sell-out on tour.
I am not a huge fan of the show, but I thought this show was fabulous fun. So, if you are an avid viewer of Dancing On Ice, you are in for one helluva good time!
