Tintin treat for adults
September 2, 2007
Often, when I am sent to review a family play- I end up sitting in someone else’s popcorn, longing for the song n’ dance section to end, then planning my escape route at the end, else I get slowed down by ‘The Borrowers!’
But this past week I had a real treat - as I saw Rufus Norris’ Tintin which has just as much going for it, if you are an adult- this makes a real change, as so often the term ‘family’ show never quite adds up.
Tintin has thrills, spills, lots of laughs and is a really inventive up date of the old boy’s own tale. On the evening that I attended, kids and adults all went home happy. In fact, I suspect that many of the adults liked it mor, as it was a family show like ‘they used to make’ - with a twist.
Sadly Tintin and friends have left Manchester, but if you get the chance to see it on the other tour dates or in the West End, when it transfers, do go, as it is a delightful show. My review from earlier in the week is here.
