A Week In Manchester…

A week in Manchester, in terms of entertainment is a long time.

In terms of news; Barbra Streisand is opening her UK tour here in July, Mary Poppins is leaving London in Jan for a UK tour (hopefully, coming to Manchester), and with 42nd Street and the Manchester International Festival about to start- it’s going to be a busy old time.

I have been out and about taking in what the city has to offer, visiting lots of venues. There has been so much to see over the past seven days, I am now exhausted!

On Monday, I went to see The Pet Shop Boys- what a show! Incredibly theatrical and pure bliss. A packed crowd danced till they dropped to the tunes of the UK’s most underrated pop act.

Tues - change of scenery as I witnessed the return of the incredible Pete Postlethwaite in The Tempest at the Royal Exchange. Read my thoughts on this brilliant production.

Wed - it was matinee time - watching Danny, Champion Of The World at the (packed full of little ones) Lowry, then back to the Lowry in the evening for Justitia - an interesting dance piece. See previous blog for more details.

On Thurs, I went to the Lowry again, to pitch my tent up, this time to see a play, direct from Edinburgh about celebrity chefs, called Food. It had a nice pace and some interesting scenes. But, to be honest it could have been longer.

Food continues until Sat, along with Danny. The Tempest is on until July.
Next week read all about Angels In America and Office Suite

Until then, there’s lots to see in Manchester, after a slight lapse, so you have no need to be bored. Check out the WOS listings for more details.

With the classic Privates Lives opening the new season at the Library Theatre and Henry V over at the Royal Exchange, the good stuff is set to continue.
