CONTACT THEATRE KICKS OFF NEW SEASON WITH IRAQ DOCU

Verbatim Theatre is all the rage at the moment. It gives a playwright the chance to present an issue which may have been covered in the news – showing an audience another angle. Some of the best plays in this genre have come from Out Of Joint. Their Permanent Way and Talking To Terrorists were both stunning pieces of theatre.

Manchester’s most interesting space, The Contact Theatre kick off their new season on Friday 4th May with the critically acclaimed piece What I Heard About Iraq. This hard hitting play is coming to Manchester direct from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It is a verbatim drama style drama which documents events from Iraq and beyond. Featuring an international cast of five, this really does promise to be a unique piece of theatre.

SUGABABES FAIL TO SET ARENA ALIGHT

The Sugababes came to Manchester on Saturday, determined to prove that they are the girl band to beat. I went along to review this gig for The Manchester Evening News website, M.E.N Online. Ironically, the show lacked the theatricality that you expect from a pop act in a cavernous venue like the MEN Arena. To read my thoughts on the gig, click here.
