Lumley brings grace to weekend
March 26, 2007
This weekend I got to see Joanna Lumley in The Cherry Orchard in Sheffield. It’s a beautiful play which is enhanced by the great lady herself. She carries herself so elegantly - you wish that she would do more theatre. The packed audience loved it. I do hope that The Crucible comes back following the rennovation with some good productions. With Fiddler In The Roof transferring to the West End, this theatre is proof that all is well in the regions.

Change of gear next as on Sunday I reviewed The Rakes at the Ritz in Manchester. I write music reviews for manchesterevening news.co.uk and feel lucky to be able to review plays and gigs as I love both. The gig reviews are harder to write in a way as often you hide the fact that you are reviewing in case you bump into an ardent fan! So, you end up propping your pad on a pint of snakebite and then type like crazy when you get home!
My review of The Rakes is here:

Before I go- if you live in Manchester, like going to the theatre and would like a cheap discount card and you are under 25- I have come across a great scheme. Running at the Library Theatre- this scheme offers under 25’s tickets for £1 for previews or £6 Mon - Fri. For more info- please click here:
