Vincent Simone & Flavia Cacace in Midnight Tango

Theatregoers mesmerised by Midnight Tango

Date: 26 January 2012

Midnight Tango brought 200 fans to the Aldwych Theatre last night (24 January 2012) to watch Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace light up the stage. The Strictly Come Dancing stars were joined by a cast of ten other professionals for a crowd-pleasing evening of ballroom dance.

The stage was set to emulate the South American feel of a Buenos Aires bar. Two elderly bartenders, who offered comedic relief throughout the show, appeared first to begin a loose narrative for the wordless performance. After the usual customers flood in, the story unfolds as Flavia enters the bar and immediately has two men fighting for her love.

Adam Spiegel and Arlene Phillips co-produced the unique play which Whatsonstage.com theatregoers raved about. The fun-filled performance was upbeat and thrilling as love triangles and fight scenes were told through gravity-defying lifts and stylistic technique.

Choreographed by Vincent and Flavia themselves, the production’s dance numbers were accompanied by a live band and Spanish crooner. Flavia’s breathtaking performance made her moves look effortless and the five female ensemble dancers complemented each other perfectly. Vincent and the male ensemble were entertaining to watch and captivated the audience with their charm.

After the show, the amazing cast joined Whatsonstage.com theatregoers to chat over drinks at the bar. It was a shame that Flavia and Vincent couldn’t join us for longer before rushing out, but it was a wonderful evening nonetheless!

As always, please feel free to email your comments and thoughts about the play, as well as any of your favourite insights from last night to feedback@whatsonstage.com. We would love to hear from you.
