January's Apocalypse Ends with Ringtone

Date: 27 January 2011

Having won the Best Lyrics trophy in the Musical Theatre Matters at the Edinburgh Fringe for the past three years as well as a second distinction this year for Best Book Barbershopera returned to the West End this January and Whatsonstage.com just couldn't resist an Outing to see what all the fuss was about!

Taking over more than half Trafalgar Studios 2, a small venue which makes you feel part of the action, Whatsonstage.com theatergoers were treated to a really fun night out as the a cappella musical masters performed their latest show Apocalypse No!. Confusion and laughs abound when God summons the four horsemen of the Apocalypse and primary school teacher Beth shows up instead of Death. With witty lyrics and perfect pitch the quartet flick from angels, to horsemen, to school children (with the help of puppets) not to mention a pirate, alligator and hell hound!

Following their energetic and immensely entertaining performance the quartet joined us for a post-show drink and a chat but not before singing a special Barbershopera ringtone recorded especially for our lucky theatregoer winner! With a slightly unusual surname to work with the quartet showed their skill not only musically but in spelling too as their ringtone round won laughs, but more importantly approval from our winner!

Please do feel free to email your comments and thoughts about the play, as well as any photos you have of the event and the evening through to feedback@whatsonstage.com, we love to hear from you.

Thanks for joining us for this event, and do check the homepage to keep up to date on all of our upcoming Outings.
