Unshakeable

Date: 25 August 2010

Paul Betney takes you on his journey to wellness in his one man show about his battle with Parkinsons.  Imagine shaking unconatrollably , unable to pick up a coffee cup without spilling the liquid, unable to  hold a pencil or button your shirt and not know the cause of your physical problems. Betney's story is one of the strenth and healing power of the human spirit.  He  will convince you that anything is possible if you want it badly enough.  Betney took himself to Japan to work, to San Francisco to do comedy and became a comedic name in the UK before he was diagnosed.  Once he knew he had Parkinson's and began taking drugs, his adjustment problems began once more.  Like a deaf man who suddenly hears sounds and must separate them into words, Paul Betney had to relearn what life is like with a steady hand and a firm stand.  One cannot listen to this man's journey without being convinced of the indomitable resilience of he human spirit.  His is a lovely heartwarming story not to  be missed.  The Spaces at Surgeon Hall August 26-28 at 3:05 pm
