Cast: Lassfest’s Coronation Street Live 1977

Fans of Coronation Street will be in seventh heaven when episodes from 1977 are set to be staged live as part of Lassfest at the Lass O’Gowrie, Manchester in January.

Casting director June West, who worked on the soap for more than 15 years, is again using her inside knowledge to sign up a stella cast for the Lass O’Gowrie’s live episodes. Comedy actress Denice Hope, who has appeared in Coronation Street, is playing Betty Turpin.

Newcomer Kimberley Hart-Simpson, 25, a graduate of the Italia Conti in London and who featured recently in JB Shorts in Joshua Brooks, will play barmaid Bet Lynch. Ian Curley is Eddie Yates, Mike Woodhead stars as Fred Gee and Kimmy Allen is Len Fairclough. And the iconic couple Hilda and Stan Ogden are played by Joan Kempson and John Draycott.

Rovers Return landlady Annie Walker is preparing for a sherry party and the chance to show off her monogrammed carpet that Eddie Yates claims has been specially made for her. Will Hilda Ogden, Bet Lynch and Fred Gee tell her where the carpet is really from before her guests arrive?

Directed by David MacCreedy and Colin Connor, Coronation Street 1977 will have a premiere at Taurus on Canal Street on 2 January and then be staged at the Lass O’Gowrie from 3 – 7 January.
