Dick Whittington Travels to Blackburn

Dick Whittington to take centre stage this year at King George’s Hall, Blackburn and is produced by Stageworks, who are based at Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach.

Taking the staring role of Dick Whittington is comedian Phil Walker, whose performance promises to be jam-packed with slapstick gags sure to keep the whole family laughing throughout.

The story sees the poor Dick and his sidekick, Tommy the Cat, set off on a great quest from London across the rough and dangerous open seas on a voyage to the exotic East where they set out to rid a kingdom of a crippling rat epidemic, brought on by the evil Queen Rat and her wicked cronies.

A whole host of crazy characters will be joining Dick on his journey including Madame Galina who plays Sarah the Cook, Scott Cambell as the Queen Rat and Kelda Dearden as Fairy Bow Bells to name a few. Bringing the many musical numbers to life are the Stageworks Dancers who are set to spin, lead and soar, bringing the story to life.

The production is written by Dougie Squires who this year celebrates his 400th production.

Dick Whittington runs from 7 December – 31st December at King George’s Hall, Blackburn.
