Twopence actor launches new swing album

Toxteth-born actor and singer Mark Moraghan took a break from rehearsing for Twopence To Cross The Mersey to launch his new swing album, Moonlight’s Back In Style.

The actor, known for his roles in Holby City and Brookside, appears in Rob Fennah’s musical adaptation of Helen Forrester’s book of the same title next month.

Moraghan reprises the role of John Forrester in the musical play, alongside fellow Liverpool performer Pauline Daniels as Helen Forrester, former Shameless actor Ciaran Kellgren, and Emma Grace Arends as Young Helen.

Appearing alongside him at his album launch, held within the Liverpool Empire atrium bar, was the former BBC Watchdog and Radio Five Live presenter Nicky Campbell. The pair realised they shared a love of swing music when they appeared together on BBC’s reality TV singing contest Just The Two Us.

Moraghan performed songs from the new album including ‘Love Ran Out Of Time’, ‘Wonderfully Wonderful You’, ‘Come For The Ride’ and ‘Many’s The Time’ which have been composed in the style of singers such as Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jnr and Frank Sinatra.

Moraghan and Campbell were also joined by Paul Buck, who played piano, Sam Brown on drums, and Mark Howell on bass.

Moonlight’s Back In Style has been released on Linn Records.
