Sinderfella Spends Xmas at Dancehouse, Manchester

It may seem too early to be thinking about Christmas but Manchester’s Dancehouse is hosting asult panto Sinderfella in December. The show was a hit at London’s Leicester Square Theatre two years ago.

The plot follows the shock news that the actress scheduled to play Cinderella for the night hasn’t turned up so it’s left to Fairy Godmother Lillian (Shameless’s Alice Barry) to conjure up a plan. Loitering around the auditorium is Miss Thunderpussy, who has always dreamed of playing Cinderella and is gagging for the chance to step in… Hilarity ensues as Sinderfella works her magic, ensnaring both her Prince Charming and Buttons , neither of whom realise that she’s a drag queen!

Alice Barry regularly appeared in Peter Key’s Phoenix Nights, New Street Law, Bob and Rose, and three series of Clocking Off. She is best known as Lillian from Shameless, the critically acclaimed drama for which she is currently filming a ninth series.

International drag artist Miss Thunderpussy is the last known IT Girl in the Midlands and a legendary name in Manchester village. She regularly appears in Manchester’s Thompsons Arms, often appears at Pride festivals across the UK, and has appeared in such TV shows as Something For The Weekend with Denise Van Outen, Hollyoaks, and Canada’s Worst Driver with Quentin Willson.

Sinderfella is at The Dance House in Manchester from 15 December – 7 January and is directed by Simon Gross.
