Alice Set to Enchant Winter Gardens

Armed only with a few peculiar props and their wits, audiences will hunt for clues, solve riddles and discover keys that unlock magic doors as they are guided around the Winter Gardens by an assortment of extraordinary characters. Whether it’s joining the Mad Hatter at his tea party, playing croquet, meeting Tweedledum and Tweedledee, chasing the elusive Cheshire Cat or dancing with royalty, the many characters of Lewis Carroll’s Alice will delight visitors with memories of this famous venue.

Join Liverpool’s Hope Street Limited to celebrate Blackpool’s glamorous history through this interactive production. Weaving an enchanting mix of theatre, film, illusion, music, dance and design this production will explore the building’s backstage secrets and front of house dramas.

Alice Through the Winter Gardens is a unique opportunity in the venue’s 133 year history for audiences to see the villages in the Spanish Hall, the majesty of the Baronial Hall and tiptoe backstage at the Opera House. Many beautiful rooms that have not been open to the public before will feature on the journey through the building.

Councillor Graham Cain, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture at Blackpool Council, said: “With so much history and wonderful architecture the Winter Gardens will provide a perfect backdrop to this unusual production. I for one am looking forward to seeing what the production team come up with and am very excited that we have been able to bring the winter Gardens to life in a new and imaginative way.”

Audience groups will be no larger than 35 creating an intimate and very personal theatrical journey. This also allows schools the opportunity to enjoy the show one class at a time.

Hope Street Limited has been producing theatrical spectaculars in unusual places for over 20 years. They have performed interactive street theatre to audiences of over 30,000. They specialise in highly original performances that engage all ages with their use of striking visual imagery, music and comedy.
