Summerscape at the Playhouse!

Every Tuesday and Thursday during August the Liverpool Playhouse will be hosting a range of events for all ages.

Theatre-themed face painting, craft activities quizzes and tours are the highlights as well as bookswaps, story circles for children and script writing events for grown-ups.

There will also be one-off events such as the opportunity to listen to artistic director Gemma Bodinetz discuss part three of the 2009 season.

The Summerscape finale will celebrate the first production of part three at the Playhouse, Kes, with an incredible flying hawk display live in Williamson Square. Summerscape events will be at the Liverpool Playhouse this August; every Tuesday for grown-ups and every Thursday for families.

On Tuesdays the Summerscape events will be aimed at grown-ups with each beginning with a ‘History Tour’ of the theatre. Visitors can find out more about the building that housed one of the UK’s first repertory theatre companies. In the afternoons professional artist Natalie Hughes will be leading ‘Craft Activities’ to join in with.

On Thursday Summerscape events, families can begin with a ‘Kids Interactive Tour’ through the Playhouse with the chance to dress up in some amazing costumes. All day Thursday there will also be ‘Face Painting’ as a theatrical make up artist can transform you into any character!

Natalie Hughes will also be leading ‘Craft Activities for Young People’ surrounding the forthcoming production of Kes. Accompanied by an adult young people can start a ‘Treasure Hunt’ from the Playhouse with clues that lead to prizes. The hunt will also include the Walker Art Gallery and World Museum. Finally, in the afternoon, families can get comfy on beanbags as ‘Storycircle’ will bring classic children’s stories to life including The BFG which is at the Playhouse in November.

Summerscape runs from Tuesday 4 until Thursday 27 August 2009.
