Fourth Urban Moves set for Summer, 27 July

Later this month, the fourth Urban Moves, an international dance festival with a difference returns to Manchester and Bury with Bolton and Salford on the map this Olympic year too. The event has a wide line-up of dance from the UK, Europe and for the first time, Korea.

Urban Moves has put together three days of professional, contemporary dance performed outdoors, against the architectural backdrop of the urban environment. Over twenty companies from the UK, Europe and Korea will perform in variety of venues:  Castlefield, Manchester; Victoria Square, Bolton; The Rock, Kay Gardens, MillGate, and the platform of the Bury station of the steam East Lancashire Railway railway line.

Highlights include:

Massala from France – the car becomes part of the company in Massala’s Déviation, a physical exploration of our love /hate relationship with the motor engine.  

Sounds on the body matches the sound from live drummers in Korea’s Park Soon-ho’s Balance and Imbalance.

Local company Fuse performs Let Off Steam on the platform of the steam powered East Lancashire Railway’s Bury station.
