Corrie‘s Huison stars in Coliseum’s Dumb Show, 12 June

Former Coronation Street Steve Huison is performing at the Grange Arts Centre in the Oldham Coliseum production of Dumb Show next month.

Steve starred in the 1997 critically acclaimed British film The Full Monty as Lomper and has appeared in many television shows including The Royal Family and dinnerladies. Most recently Steve played lovable layabout Eddie Windass in Coronation Street until 2011.

Steve will be playing Barry in Dumb ShowJoe Penhall’s fierce satire on the relationship between the morality of the press and the ethics of celebrity culture. Barry – star of Saturday night TV – isn’t getting the ratings he used to. When two private bankers come knocking on his dressing room door with a proposition complete with a healthy fee it looks like his troubles might be over.

This quick fix turns out to have one big catch; a hidden camera. With the press wanting to get every last juicy detail from one of Britain’s best known personalities they go to extreme measures to get their scoop. Tapping right into the current question of press morality and the ethics of celebrity culture, Dumb Show is about share with you a very private story.

Steve is no stranger to the Coliseum; he played Phil in the 2005 production of Brassed Off and also appeared in Can’t Pay, Won’t Pay in 2008. He will be starring alongside Kate Coogan who most recently appeared at the Coliseum in Stepping Out (2011) and Leigh Symonds who played Doctor Watson in the Coliseum tour of The Hound of the Baskervilles (2012).

Dumb Show is directed by Kevin Shaw and runs at the Grange Arts Centre from 12 – 30 June.
