Temp/Casual Set for Contact

Steve Timms‘ 24/7 Theatre Festival production and Flip the Script play – Temp/Casual is back in Manchester next week at Contact.

Spent Ambition’s play follows Susan, Martin, Adam and Stick who are talented, young Manchester graduates. But three years after leaving university their collective ambition has waned and the friends find themselves adrift in a sea of debt and soul-destroying employment. Worse, their once close friendships begin to fracture…

Susan ends her relationship with Martin and considers a career in adult entertainment; Adam works in an off-license, dabbles in drug-dealing and dreams of stand-up comedy; DJ Stick can’t hold down a job and is tormented by his dad’s death from cancer; while sensitive Martin wins a poetry commission and becomes a media darling but remains unfulfilled. With razor-sharp dialogue, multimedia projections and  a contemporary soundtrack Temp/Casual tells a bittersweet tale about friendship, dreams and loss.

A hit at the 24/7 Theatre Festival in 2009, scenes from an earlier draft of were first performed at Contact’s Flip the Script in summer 2000.
