Acclaimed novel Road to Nab End adapted for Oldham stage

Oldham Coliseum Theatre present the world premiere stage adaptation of the bestselling book The Road to Nab End, which tells the remarkable tale of a poverty-stricken childhood which caught the imagination of people throughout the world.
 
Set in Blackburn in the 1920s, The Road to Nab End evokes the hardships and joys of growing up in a northern community during the great depression. From heroic mill workers to a sadistic nun, the monuments and memories are full of spirit, humour and a little sadness.
 
Oldham and Blackburn share the same heritage and the landscape of mills echoes in both towns making this a perfect tale to be adapted for the Coliseum stage. To support this adaptation the Friends of Oldham Coliseum Theatre donated £1,500 to develop the script.
 
Adapted by writer Phillip Goulding who previously adapted A Little Local Difficulty (2003) for the Coliseum and has also written previous Coliseum productions; Wake up Little Suzie! (Oldham Coliseum / Haymarket Theatre Basingstoke, 2005) and Feels Like the First Time (2006).

The Road to Nab End is directed by Kevin Shaw and runs at the Coliseum from 17 June – 10 July.
