Carpenter is Peron in Evita Tour

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Evita  – which tells the remarkable story of Eva Peron – is returning to the Opera House, Manchester.

Abigail Jaye returns to the role of Eva. Her musical theatre
credits include her role as Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat
and Isobel in Scrooge.  Joining Abigail on stage in the role of Che is Mark Powell, whose
credits include the West End productions of Evita, Whistle Down the Wind
and Les Misérables.

Earl Carpenter will be playing the role of Juan
Peron. Earl was most recently seen in Manchester as Khashoggi in We Will Rock You and
as Javert in the 25th Anniversary production of Les Miserables and has played the leading role in the West
End’s Phantom of the Opera.

With more than 20 major awards to its credit, including the Oscar-winning film version starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, Evita features iconic song “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.” Evita follows the extraordinary life of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, who, from young and ambitious beginnings, gained enormous wealth and power during her ultimate rise to popular sainthood.

As well as “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”, the show also features “On This Night of a Thousand Stars”, “Oh What A Circus”, “You Must Love Me”, “Another Suitcase in Another Hall” and “High Flying Adored.” 

Evita is presented by Bill Kenwright by special arrangement with the Really Useful Group. Lyrics are by Tim Rice, music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The show is directed by Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright and set designs are by Matthew Wright, with choreography by Bill Deamer, lighting by Mark Howett, sound by Ben Harrison, orchestration by Andrew Lloyd Webber and David Cullen, and musical director and arrangements by David Steadman.

Evita runs at the Manchester Opera House from 23 – 28 May.
