Save the Last Dance for Me opens at the Liverpool Empire next week. It's from the producers of the hit show Dreamboats and Petticoats which transferred to the West End, alongside a touring production. We caught up with A.J Dean - one of the stars to find out more.



1. The Team
The show is brought to you by the same creative team behind the hugely successful smash musical Dreamboats and Petticoats so be sure to catch the next Rock'n'Rollin' extravaganza while you can still get hold of tickets.

2. The Music
It features the music of Doc Pomus and Mort Schuman who penned many of the big hits of Elvis Presley and The Drifters. Superbly arranged by Keith Strachan (Dreamboats and Petticoats, Laughter in the Rain) the numbers are sure to electrify and delight.

3. Great Dancing
The show is immaculately choreographed by Bill Deamer (So You Think You Can Dance?, Top Hat) bringing the rocking songs to life and causing a stir which is certain to get even the most down hearted souls up on their feet.

4. The Story
It features an incredibly moving storyline. Created by the collective Genius of Marks and Gran (Shine on Harvey Moon, Birds of a Feather, Dreamboats and Petticoats), it provides the perfect backdrop to 1960's Britain as well as touching on some very poignant issues of the time and ultimately proves that love conquers all.

5. The Cast
Save the Last Dance for Me features a superbly talented seventeen strong cast, including a wonderful bunch of actor- musicians that bring the classic hits back to life in such a way as is rarely seen. With a variety of different backgrounds, the cast cause every aspect of the show, story and music to burst forwards and erupt in such a vivid display that it can only leave an audience believing those immortal words are true; "Rock'n'Roll will never die."
